Position Description

Physician Assistant (PA) - Family Medicine Position Available

We are looking for a provider wanting to be part of a team of health care professionals who are committed to maintaining access to quality primary healthcare in Montana’s rural communities. Please consider joining us by relocating to Culbertson, Montana, and Roosevelt Medical Center.

Roosevelt Medical Center is a small facility in need of a provider with interest in caring for patients in our rural health clinic, 33-bed critical access hospital with long term care and 24-hour ER.  We do not provide surgical or obstetrical services.   This is a great opportunity for the provider who likes autonomy and the chance to maximize his/her skills and knowledge in primary care.  This job is also for the provider who wants to develop long term relationships with patients and provide care for an individual across the continuum from infancy through old age.  For these services, we will pay a competitive salary with benefits.

Clinic staff is made up of 1 physician, 1 full-time PA/NP (currently vacant), one part-time PA, clinic manager/medical assistant, 2 nurses, and a receptionist.  Providers see between 10 and 20 patients per day in the clinic.

The Critical Access Hospital (CAH) has an average daily inpatient census of .4, and is staffed with 2 nurses during the day and evening and 1 nurse at night, 4 CNAs during the day, 3 in the evening, and 2 at night.  Long term care census is 21-23 residents per day.

The emergency room visits average 40-50 per month so while on call, providers are not onsite, but must be available to respond within 30 minutes.  Call is split with the physician and full-time PA/NP for 1-2 week nights, holidays, and 1:3 weekends.  Emergency room visit diagnoses range from earache and stubbed toe and nosebleeds to MI, trauma, and suicide attempts.

We have a full-service laboratory with blood banking and bacteriology, basic x-ray services, and physical therapy services five days a week.

This position could be right for a provider wanting to maintain a full-time practice, but at a slower and much more personal pace. There is opportunity to enjoy your hobbies and build strong friendships.
